The promise and our
response
-
Throughout our lives, we make promises. “I
promise to return the toy I borrowed.” “I promise to get my
homework done.” “I promise to be faithful in marriage.” “I
promise to fulfill my financial obligations.” “I promise to be
a good and faithful steward.” Yes, these are promises we do
our best to keep. God has promised us eternal life through
Jesus Christ. We
give to God in return a portion of our blessings. We return a
portion of our blessings of abilities in service to God and
our blessings of dollars.
Intent to
Give - Our current “Intent to Give” campaign is
in a “Rainbow Year of Promise.” Our rainbow stewardship year
spans from January of 2008 through March of 2009. This will
enable us to switch to a giving year that will span from April
through March. This change will allow us to include our
snowbirds in our efforts.
Capital Campaign
- The people of Emmanuel are good financial
stewards. Thanks to two generous bequests and the generosity
of our members, we are now enjoying the inspiring worship in
our new sanctuary. We are currently completing a three year
campaign to raise money for this beautiful building and we are
most happy to note that the new building is debt free!
It is such a blessing that we now have this new space
in which to grow.
Volunteerism
- The
Stewardship Ministry at Emmanuel offers us the chance to “give
back” some of what God has provided for us. All of the
volunteer activities at Emmanuel are a result of the giving of
time and talents of our people – all given as a gift in return
for all that God has given to us. This encompasses
people in all of our ministry teams – loving people who
participate as caring callers, educators, willing workers,
musicians, ushers and greeters, hospitality workers,
administrative volunteers, service to the world outside of
Emmanuel and so much more. All of these gifts are shared in
love to further Christ’s ministry in this place and beyond.
We have three
major fund raisers each year – the Harvest Home Festival in
November, the Spaghetti
Dinner
in January, and the Yard
Sale in February. These are
additional opportunities for giving of our time and
talents. |
